Country singer Tracy Lawrence began performing at age 15. He was initiated into Epsilon-Kappa Chapter, Southern Arkansas University, in 1987 but left school to sing for a band. When it broke up, he moved to Nashville, working miscellaneous jobs while becoming a regular performer around town. Seven months after moving to Nashville, in 1991, he signed a contract with Atlantic Records.
He has released 14 studio albums, including two that are certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. He has had over 40 songs appear on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, eight of which reached number one. His music has been described as “polished, modern-day honky-tonk” and mixes modern and traditional country sounds.
Lawrence won Top New Male Vocalist from Billboard in 1992 and from the Academy of Country Music in 1993.
