Romo, Tony R.

Tony Romo was initiated into Beta-Gamma Chapter in 1999. He starred on the Eastern Illinois University football team, winning a number of awards, including the Walter Payton Award, given annually to the top Division I-AA football player.


In his 14 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Romo completed 2,829 passes for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns. He led the Cowboys to the playoffs in four seasons and was named to the Pro Bowl four times. He had a knack for leading the team on fourth quarter comebacks/game-winning drives, setting the Cowboys’ record with 28 such drives. He also holds the Cowboys’ team records in passing yards, touchdowns, games with at least 3 touchdown passes, games with at least 300 yards passing, and consecutive games with a touchdown pass.


After his retirement from the NFL, was hired by CBS to be the lead color analyst on NFL games. He received praise for his work, especially for his ability to read defensive formations, predict offensive plays, and his energy. The New Yorker called him a genius of football commentary.
