Kennedy, William R.

William Raper Kennedy was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on November 22, 1877. As a cadet at Vincennes University, he helped found Sigma Pi Fraternity. He graduated in 1897 and served in the Spanish-American War. After he was discharged, he re-enlisted in the infantry and was a career member of the military, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Infantry.


Kennedy also was a member of the faculty at Culver Military Academy in Indiana from 1905 until his retirement in 1944.


He married Helen Hens in 1908, with whom he had four children. He died on December 5, 1944.
